Sailing out of Three Mile Harbor in East Hampton NY gives me access to many prime fishing grounds. In any given season, I will fish the Peconic Bays, Gardiners Bay, Eastern Long Island Sound, The Gut, The Sluiceway, The Race, Fishers Island, Block Island Sound, Montauk and the South Shore of East Hampton. I go where the fish are and don’t wait for them to come to me.
Whether fishing for striped bass, bluefish or fluke, my preferred technique is live bait. However, there are times when dead bait, bucktails or diamond jigs will out produce live bait. There are also times when trolling is the best alternative. Experience has shown that often the difference between a good catch and a great catch is “matching the hatch” giving them what they are looking for. I also fish bottom structure and wrecks for porgies, black sea bass and tautog when in season. |
